Murchison Falls

Murchison Falls

The park is divided by the River Nile into northern savannah grasslands and southern forested areas. The northern sector offers outstanding game viewing, with large populations of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hartebeest, Uganda kobs, and oribi roaming the open plains. Boat safaris along the Nile are a signature experience, bringing visitors close to hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife along the riverbanks. The cruise to the base of Murchison Falls is unforgettable, while another route heads downstream toward the Nile Delta, one of the best places in Uganda to spot the rare shoebill stork. A guided hike to the Top of the Falls offers breathtaking views and an up-close experience of the Nile’s raw power as the water crashes through the rocky gorge. The park also protects forest areas such as Budongo Forest, renowned for chimpanzee tracking and birding.
